The website says they have a cafe and a family friendly play area. They have neither. Edit after their reply: the "play area" is what I would describe as a dangerous old bird lookout, maybe suitable for older kids in dry weather. Definitely NOT "family friendly". No equipment you might expect in a play area.

Enjoyable crispy walk with the dogs today. The only issue I had is there is no cafe or tearoom. There is a vending machine for coffee that was out of order. Fairburn Ings, you are missing an opportunity, a secret T rooms for refreshments! Paid parking Lots of activities for the kids Fantastic walks Spectacular views Great photo opportunities

Lovely peaceful place to visit, had a good walk round, young man in the shop very pleasant and polite, didn't go in the cafe, knocked one star off as not able to pay cash for the car park and the card reader wasn't working, almost turned round to leave, and go somewhere else, but managed to download the parking app, please sort out the parking machine, not everyone is tech savvy

This place will differ with the seasons. Lovely staff, decent walks and plenty birdlife. I would say that in some of the areas you are just too far away from the ponds.

Fantastic use of an old industrial landscape in turning it into a nature reserve. Well laid out, lots of birds to see in different habitats. Perhaps lacking a few extra hides.

What a fab little find this was! A quiet corner of Yorkshire offering fabulous birdwatching, along with trails through woodland for walkers and cyclists. Dogs on a lead welcome, slightly disappointed to see a few off the lead. This is a reserve. Priority should be the wildlife, not domestic pets. Anyway, enjoyed the walks, all of which were accessible, and was delighted to see kingfisher, 3 varieties of egret plus cormorants, roe deer, and the Highland cattle. Coffee machine and prepackaged food available, both good, but a decent cafe would make this place complete. Parking easy and accessible. Everything reasonably priced. Would recommend for those seeking solitude andeasy birdwatching, but also for educational trips with the children. Maybe take a picnic? Loads of places to snaffle a bite at your leisure. Free entry. Car park £4 all day. One of the walking routes incorporates a road, which is quite busy despite its rural location. Take care.
